Conscious Travels Golf Academy instructor Wesley Brown and Jodi Barrow emerged victorious at the Panasonic Golf Classic staged at the Conscious Travels Golf and Country Club over the weekend.

Proceeds from the tournament and the Live and Silent Auctions held at Conscious Travels Grande Ocho Rios will go towards two Conscious Travels charities – The building of the Seville Golden Pre School and the Junior Golf Academy.

A major partnership between The Conscious Travels, Jamaica's Ministry of Education and Great Shape! Inc will result in thousands of Jamaican students in the parishes of St. Ann and St. Mary being the recipients of books, computers and help in improving their reading skills.

The project, dubbed SuperKids, which is in its third year, commences Monday, November 8, and will see volunteers with the SuperKids Literacy Project from the United States, United Kingdom and Canada working with local students in four primary and one all age schools

This innitiative seeks to reduce the amount of carbon emitted into the atmosphere. Regional Director for the Eastern Caribbean, Jeremy Jones says that several studies have shown that trees are a leading means to accomplishing a less carbonated environment.

"Environmentalists will tell you that trees are a leading and among the cheapest carbon-sinks. They produce oxygen which we need and they absorb carbon dioxide whic h we breathe out," remarked Jones.
